About the Hub
I created The Social Work Practice Hub because I wanted a space where useful ideas, evidence and resources could be shared in a way that feels relevant to the realities of the work we do.
There are already some fantastic large collections of social work resources available online, and they have helped practitioners for many years. But I wanted to create something a little different: a Hub where resources are actively developed, where new learning and evidence can shape what is created, and where tools are designed with a clear purpose rather than simply building the biggest possible library.
I’m a qualified social worker and practice educator, and my career has taken me through frontline practice, practice education, quality assurance and workforce development. Across those roles, one thing has remained consistent: knowing the theory is important, but working out what that means for the person in front of you is often where the real thinking begins.
That is what I want the Hub to help with.
Some resources are designed for direct work with children, young people, adults and families. Others encourage reflection, support learning, explore research and evidence, or contribute to continuous professional development.
Although social work sits at the heart of the Hub, I don’t believe useful resources need to belong to one profession or one country. If something here can support a teacher, counsellor, health professional, youth worker, student or anyone else working alongside people, they are very welcome to use it.
